Three districts founded in Perpignan, in the 13th century ‑ Saint‑Matthieu, Saint‑Jacques and La Réal ‑ are characterized by their huge elevations of massive raw earth, renowned for the archaeology of the elevations. The study of the archives clarified the chronology and the construction methods, from the allocation of building land, in regular blocks, to the transformations throughout the centuries. The role of the Templars and the King in the subdivision of these districts has been highlighted. The knowledge of the location of the islands, the dimensions of the houses, their construction method and their interior layout allows us to get closer to the formation of popular neighbourhoods of artisans and neo‑urbanites, among which the Jews of the “call” settled ​
