L’urbanisme de la vila de Roses (segles XI‑XVIII): la complementarietat de les fonts d’informació

Abstract

The urban development of Roses during the Middle Ages has its origin in the creation of the monastery of Santa Maria de Roses, where the first urban nucleus was formed and its first documented mention is dated from the end of the 11th century. The demographic and economic growth of the 13th century allowed the creation of a regular urbanistic plan, which was surrounded by a new wall. On the other side, two more urban areas were formed outside the fortified town, a commercial and military district, at the Port, and a fishery hood, at Les Botigues

L’evolució urbanística de Roses durant l’edat mitjana té el seu origen en la creació del monestir de Santa Maria de Roses, al redós del qual es formarà el primer nucli urbà, esmentat documentalment a finals del segle XI. El creixement demogràfic i econòmic del segle XIII permetrà crear un eixample de planta regular que a finals del segle XIII s’acabarà envoltant d’un nou recinte emmurallat. Per altra banda a extramurs es formaren dues àrees urbanes més a davant de mar, una comercial i militar, el barri del Port, i una de pesquera a Les Botigues
