La vivència infermera en la cura de persones amb malaltia oncològica i final de vida: projecte de recerca qualitatiu: estudi fenomenològic

Background: Cancer is one of the main problems of public health in the world and one of the main causes of death. Its appearance is increasing due to the aging of the population and an augment in established risk factors. The survival of people to cancer has also been increasing, even so many of them end up receiving palliative cures at the end of their disease. Nurses are highly relevant in this process, since that they become a centerpriece of the team. Althought, the continuous exposure to the suffering of people at the end of life increases the risk of burnout that can affect their professional and personal capacity. Aim: To know the experience of nurses who care people with advanced oncological disease in end-of-life situations. Methodology: This is a phenomenological qualitative study that will be carried out in the demarcation of Girona on nurses between 25 and 67 years old with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in the care of people with oncological disease in end-of-life situation. These nurses will be chosen according to a proactive sampling that it’s essential that they speak Catalan or Spanish and sign informed consents. The information will be recollected from sociodemographic questionnaire and semi-structured and deep interviews and a thematic analysis will be carried out. This study will be presented at Clinical Research Ethics Committee of University Girona. This study will ensure data protection and confidentially laws. Practical implications: the results could help to take measures to promote the health of these nurses, improving their self-care and communication skills, and in this way also guarantee a good quality of care ​
