Introduction: Sepsis is considered an organic dysfunction that results from an
uncontrolled immune response to bacterial or fungal antigens (infection) in the
bloodstream. in addition, it can be a danger to the host's life, as it can progress to severe
sepsis, followed by septic shock and ending with a multi-organ dysfunction syndrome. It is
a serious health problem due to the high incidence and morbidity of the population. The
early detection and implantation of correct and immediate care in these patients will
determine their evolution and prognosis. Surviving Sepsis Campaign develops clinical
practice guidelines to reduce the mortality rate from severe sepsis and septic shock. The
guides insist on bundle terms in clinical practice to achieve the goal of reducing mortality.
The importance of nursing staff at identifying the signs and knowing at all times what
interventions to develop with sufficient accuracy and efficiency in order to provide a good
quality of patient care is essential. These interventions are included in the Code Sepsis.
Objective: To study the knowledge that the 3rd and 4th nursing students have at the
University of Girona's Faculty of Nursing on the Sepsis Code before and after performing
the practices in the emergency unit.
Methodology: A two-sided descriptive, cross-sectional and analytical study will be
developed, using a quantitative methodology, where the sample of the study will be the 3rd
and 4th nursing students of the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Girona. The data
needed to reach the goal will be obtained from two surveys that 3rd and 4th nursing
students will have to answer before and after completing their internship in the emergency
service. The statistical analysis of this data will be performed using the SPSS computer
program. The Ethics Committee must be contacted for evaluation, as well as the Dean of
the Faculty of Nursing and the Coordination Department of the practicum subject. User
participation will be voluntary and completely anonymous.
