The aim of this article is to provide an analysis of the use of gender in the Spanish Interlanguage of Arabic speakers learning Spanish as a third language L3. Specifically, we investigate whether these non-native speakers: (i) use a deafult gender option, (ii) transfer the gender of their mother tongue or (iii) use the transparent/opaque vowel sufixes of Spanish Nouns as the most relevant evidence to acquire the Spanish gender features.To answer these questions, we administered an aceptability judgement test to three groups of learners with diferent levels of proficiency ​
