A series of letters from Martí de Riquer’s archive tell the story of his relationship with another great medievalist, Josep Romeu. Their friendship and mu-tual admiration is documented, as well as their brief competition to obtain a position in the University of Barcelona, and later their shared activities at the Reial Acadèmia de Bones Lletres de Barcelona
