The contribution of Andalusian immigration in Catalonia during the Franco regime was crucial to the enormous growth in population. Migration flows were mainly headed towards Barcelona, although other peripheral and less populated areas were also receptors, as in the case of Olot (Girona). This article analyses the demographic impact of Andalusian immigration and labour integration, given the important role of productive work in the process for social integration. While Andalusian immigrants entered the labour market and earned constant income, the ensuing difficulties and social, personal and family costs were significant
