Decidir el lloc on morir: factors influenciables en les persones amb càncer avançat: projecte de recerca qualitatiu

Abstract

Cancer is the first death cause in men and second in women. Although there is an increase of survivals, there are some people who need palliative cures before their death. The fact where to decide the death place it is influenced by factors that are conditioned by the decision of the patient and their relatives. The main goal of this project is to explore influenceable causes on patient decision of death place on advanced and terminal cancer patients. Methodology: A qualitative Phenomenological study will be done in families of patients with advanced cancer who have received palliative cures between six months and a year after their death. These families will be chosen from a convenience sample and it will respect inclusion rules, which are to be the main patient assistant, to be over 18 years old and to speak Catalan or Spanish. They must be sign informative consent and they don’t have to have any neurological or cognitive lack. Information will be recollected by a short socio demographic question list and an individual, formal, half-structured and deep interview. Related to data analysis, a content analysis will be done with an identification, codification and categorization process of main underlying idea extracted of interviews.
