Background: Cardiovascular diseases due to primary cardiac causes are the leading cause of cardiac arrest and the leading cause of death worldwide for 15 years. Cardiac arrest mostly occurs at an extra-hospital level and its survival rate remains low, especially in the long term. After cardiac arrest patients spend one year for a cardiac rehabilitation, however, the literature shows that this is insufficient because patients continue to suffer from long-term consequences such as depression, anxiety, panic, insecurity and loss of abilities. Today, however, there has been little research into the experiences and support needs in this stage. Aim: To know the experiences after the cardiac arrest of the survivors of an extra- hospital cardiac arrest in the Baix Empordà region. Methodology: The study presents a generic qualitative methodology; it is of the interpretative type and it will be carried out from September 2018 to October 2019. The field of study is the community nursing of the basic areas of health from the Baix Empordà region. The study population will be adults over 18 years old of the Baix Empordà region who have survived an extra-hospital cardiac arrest. The initial sample will be of 8 survivors chosen for convenience after making informative sheets to the consultations of primary health care centres and health clinics of the Baix Empordà. The data will be collected through a depth semi-structured interview and a thematic content analysis will be carried out. To carry out the study, it will be passed through the Research Committee and the confidentiality and autonomy of the patient will be respect according to the law. Practical implications: The results of the study could help nursing, especially community, to know the main needs, fears, limitations and challenges and, thus, to give more comprehensive, complete and person-centred care through nursing consultations or home visits
