Slogans represent an essential key element in building brands. A good brand uses slogans:
they improve brand image, and help to facilitate recognition and recall (Kohli, Leuthesser
and Suri, 2007). In spite of this, there are still few studies that explore this subject, especially
if we refer to tourism slogans. Tourism promotion in general, and tourism destination
promotion in particular, frequently uses slogans as an instrument for its strategic positioning.
This research aims to contribute to knowledge about slogans in tourism destinations, through
a content analysis of tourism slogans used during the year 2010, in the 946 municipalities in
Catalonia
