Abstract

In the thirteenth century and due to the great influence and prestige of theological studies at the University of Paris, both the Menorets Franciscan and the Friar Preachers decided that the best and more capable bachelors (baccalaureus formatus) had to attend the University of Paris in order to obtain the relevant and corresponding doctoral university chair. This was the case of the friar preacher Guillelmus Peraldus. After his Parisian tour, Peraldus returned "sine gradu" to his convent where it seems that in 1236 he had already written Summa de vitiïs et virtutibus, a treaty on the vices and virtues in two parts

Al segle XIII i per la gran influència i prestigi dels estudis de teologia de la Universitat de París, tant els menorets franciscans com els frares predicadors, decidiren que els batxillers (bacchalaurei) més avançats freqüentessin aquesta universitat a fi i efecte d’obtenir els corresponents doctorats i les corresponents càtedres universitàries. Aquest va ser el cas del frare predicador Guillelmus Peraldus. Peraldus, després del periple parisenc, retorna “sine gradu” a la seva seu conventual, on sembla que ja l’any 1236 havia escrit una Summa de vitiïs et virtutibus, tractat de vicis i virtuts que va ser escrit en dues parts
