The article analyzes the thought and speech of Alberto I. Gache, consul general of Argentina in Barcelona, and also the discourse of "Catalan of America" separatist group based in Buenos Aires. These speeches, which were developed during the first half of the twentieth century, allow us to study the projects of national identity in the former American colonies, with special emphasis on models of reorganization of these actors by insisting on the transatlantic economic and cultural dependence on neo-colonial kind ​
