Abstract

Related to the power of Rome a spectacular growing in the number of silos appears, and also a dispersal of storage points. Now there are more villages with silos and the big centres of control of excess stuff, which were exist in former periods, disappear. Some villages grow very much. This growth may be related to the increasing of the production and to the roman tax System. What could explain the location of silos around the praesidium in Empúries, is really the income and the storage for military use. In the countryside are beginning to find new settlements that combine traditional italic elements with native elements as silos. These settlements from the end of the 2nd and beginning of the Ist c.b.C., are linked with the roman cities of Empúries and Gerunda. This fact gives a new economic situation radically different from the former period. Shortly the silos are abandoned; they are a way to preserve food not suitable for the new times. Finally in the Augustan period they almost disappear completely

Relacionat amb el domini de Roma es produeix un creixement espectacular del nombre de sitges i una dispersió dels nuclis d’emmagatzematge. Ara són més els poblats amb sitges i desapareixen els grans centres de control d’excedents del període anterior. Per contra, alguns poblats experimenten un creixement espectacular. Aquest creixement es pot relacionar amb un augment de la producció i amb la fiscalitat romana. És, precisament, la recaptació i l’emmagatzematge per a usos militars el que explicaria la localització de sitges al voltant del praesidium d’Empúries. Al camp es comencen a trobar assentaments nous que combinen elements de tradició itàlica amb elements indígenes com les sitges. Aquests assentaments, a partir del final del s. II i principi del s.I aC s’articulen al voltant de les ciutats romanes com Empúries i Gerunda donant lloc a una situació econòmica radicalment nova en relació al període anterior. A poc a poc les sitges es van abandonant perquè és un mitjà de conservació d’aliments poc apte als nous temps, fins que en època augustal desapareixen gairebé del tot
