Panorama internacional contemporáneo sobre la educación matemática infantil

In this article North American, Australian and European curriculum guidelines on early childhood mathematics education are reviewed in order to provide a broad overview of the mathematics that should be taught to children at an early age and how these concepts and skills should be developed. In an effort to promote mathematical competence, all of these national curriculum guidelines agree on the importance of promoting mathematical processes to understand and effectively use numbers and algebra, measurement and geometry, and statistics and probability. It is hoped that all of these aspects will be progressively incorporated into early childhood education classroom practices and thereby provide greater access to the mathematical knowledge required by society in the 21st century
