Orientalisme, colonialisme i gènere: el Marroc sensual i fanàtic d'Aurora Bertrana

Compartir
In this article the authors examine the relationship between geography, orientalism and colonialism in Europe at the end of the last century, introducing a gender perspective within the context of a broader-based interest in the history of contemporary geographical thought. The study is based on the contextualized analysis of a text dating from that period, and which refers to Spain’s colonial adventure in Africa. The book in question is El Marroc sensual i fanàtic (“Sensual and fanatic Morocco”), written by Aurora Bertrana in 1936. It is a very detailed version of the differentiating discourse and an excellent illustration of European women’s travel literature, an exceptional and unusual contribution to Catalan and Spanish literature at that time
